My job is arduous in nature

Arduous work is defined as exposure to one or more on-the-job risks that can have a long-lasting, identifiable, and irreversible impact on health.

If you are a salaried worker or a civil servant in the electrical and gas industry, with a job in the active category, you may be eligible to retire early under certain conditions.

The law of January 20, 2014, provides for an arduous work account (“compte prévention pénibilité”) to be opened for salaried workers who belong to Assurance Retraite or Mutualité Sociale Agricole (MSA). The account is being rolled out in stages: 4 risk factors became applicable in 2015 and 6 additional ones on July 1st, 2016. Your account will grow throughout your career, up to a maximum of 100 (non renewable) points.

With regard to your pension entitlement, you can use each 10-point increment to pay for a 1-quarter increase in your length of insurance, up to a maximum of 8 quarters. You can apply to use your points beginning at age 55 as a way to retire up to 2 years early.

Quarters accrued under this program count toward early retirement for a long career.

Important information:

The arduous work account and retirement for arduous work in connection with a permanent disability of occupational origin  are two different programs.
