I have completed a study/ apprenticeship program

Between July 1st, 1972 and December 31st, 2013

As from July 1st, 1972, apprentices are entitled to a statutory minimum salary. If you were on an apprenticeship contract between that date and December 31st, 2013, you can purchase quarters for your period as an apprentice at a preferential rate (up to a maximum of 4 quarters).

From January 1st, 2014

Apprentices can credit a quarter to their pension account for each quarter as an apprenticeship. 4 quarters can be credited to your account for a full year on an apprenticeship contract.

Through a vocational high school

Apprentices who are enrolled in vocational high schools are secondary-school students, which means that they are not paid any compensation subject to social security contributions. As a result, these periods do not count toward retirement.

Important:

Apprentices' Arrco contribution (as well as their Agirc contributions if they meet the membership requirements) are calculated on a notional basis.

However, pension points are awarded. These are in addition to the points that are earned throughout their career as a salaried employee.

To learn more, please contact your pension scheme.

Periods of work under a vocational training contract will be credited to your account in the same way as those accrued by the company’s other employees.

To learn more about how periods of employment are credited to your account by the pension schemes to which you have belonged, please refer to the article entitled "Working and paying contributions"
